A Message from the Board of Directors

To our community,

MSAMA shares in the outrage and sadness following the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others. We acknowledge and condemn the long history of systemic injustice and discrimination that not only occurs nationally, but within this country's healthcare system. As leaders in medical education, we must band together to educate ourselves about how we can be different, how we can help others, and how to stand up as a community against social injustice. In the words of President Barack Obama “This shouldn’t be ‘normal’ in 2020 America. It can’t be ‘normal.’ If we want our children to grow up in a nation that lives up to its highest ideals, we can and must be better.”

While we don’t have all the answers, we promise that as an organization, we will strive to ensure our country and community never goes “back to normal” and promise to support the advancement of social justice. We will strive to create a safe and inclusive space for everyone in medical education. If you have any resources or educational materials you feel would benefit our members, please email us at info@msama.org. In this organization we are all partners, thus we hope to hear from you about how we can learn from each other, support each other, and help one another to move forward.

In support,

MSAMA Board of Directors
