The Massachusetts Society of Academic Medical Administrators promotes leadership and professional development by bringing together a diverse network of administrators committed to improving medical education through collaboration.  MSAMA aims to develop collegiality amongst teaching institutions in order to inspire its members to continually push the boundaries of advancements in medical education.



The Massachusetts Society of Academic Medical Administrators (MSAMA) seeks to educate and support administrators in the field of medical education regarding curricular advancements, innovations in teaching methods, basic industry knowledge, regulatory compliance, and best practices.



MSAMA aims to provide medical education administrators with a resource for gaining new knowledge and updates in their respective fields. MSAMA Membership is open to any administrator in the medical education profession inclusive of Graduate Medical Education (GME), Fellowships, Residencies, and Clerkships. Through education and fostering collaborations, we seek to create an innovative medical education community. Check out our events page to see the latest happenings within MSAMA!

  • Leadership opportunities - Available to all MSAMA members! You can join any of MSAMA’s four committees: Membership, Planning, Communications, and Mentorship, each with a distinctly important role for MSAMA. There are also opportunities to apply to become a member of MSAMA’s Board.

  • Forum – A tool for members to post questions and rapidly receive responses and resources from MSAMA colleagues around the state.

Dear MSAMA Members,

For many of us, it is the start of a new academic year! On behalf of the MSAMA board of directors, we thank you for your membership and commitment to our organization. I am writing to inform you that Ms. Tanya Zinkus has stepped down as chair of the board of directors and I will assume the role for her remaining term. We thank Tanya for her leadership and are appreciative that she will continue to serve as a general board member.

As we continue to roll out the MSAMA 2.0 vision, we are guided by our original mission to promote leadership and professional development for medical education administrators. The most tangible evidence of these efforts is our new website which we continue to build and add content to. If you haven’t visited recently, I highly recommend you check it out. Our planning committee is also hard at work on planning for next year’s annual meeting drawing on the feedback from this year’s meeting. The planning committee is also planning a special event to promote a networking opportunity for our members to meet and speak directly with leaders in our field. Be on the lookout for more details! We look forward to the annual MSAMA Summer Social on August 14th at 5:30pm at Turtle Swamp Brewery in Jamaica Plain.

Finally, a special thank you to our founding board members, Laurie Dubois, Britt Simonson, and Karen Bruynell for whom without their vision, hard work and dedication we would not have this wonderful organization and community.
